RAISING AWARENESS AND FUNDS
The Gordon family has created the BeLikeBruce platform with the goal to advocate, take action and create awareness of the illness that took Bruce’s life and changed theirs forever. The BeLikeBruce Triathlon intends to help achieve these goals by accepting monetary donations and directing a portion of the entry fees to pancreatic cancer research being done at the world class University of Saskatchewan Cancer Research Centre. With the link provided, you are able to make personal donations to The U of S College of Medicine with a note to direct the funds to the Bruce Gordon Memorial Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund.
EVERYBODY WELCOME
The BeLikeBruce Triathlon is meant to be friendly to beginners, but also provide a competitive environment for experienced athletes. Beginning in 2018 the race is being run through the non-profit cycling club, Bike Doctor Detours. Your registration fee includes your triathlon race fee, BeLikeBruce Swag and an after-race snack – plus proceeds to pancreatic cancer research!

Quotes
“Every Second Counts”, a phrase that people have used for many years. It can be used for many of life’s challenges. Bruce used it as a term of encouragement, particularly when giving his pep talks before races to us. Bruce was a huge supporter of ours and we will never forget these words of encouragement.
To honour Bruce and to always have his words with us, we asked him to write this phrase for us before his passing. We then took this to a tattoo artist in Penticton and had it permanently inked on our arms along with a bike….since Bruce’s other favourite phrase to say was “it’s all about the bike!”
— Kaycee and Hunter Schroeder
Today, for the first time I felt so much positivity coming from this negative news. It was so clear to me that we really don’t get to pick how many years we get to have on this earth, but we do get to choose how we fill them. The theme was “Be like Bruce”. I think that phrase can mean something different to each person that knows him. To me it means to be humble and kind. To push yourself to be the best that you can be ALWAYS. Never give up because the human spirit is a powerful thing and can accomplish great things. Live every day! Do things that challenge your body and mind. Love yourself and others. Keep learning new things. Get involved and make new friends. Lead by example. Live life with integrity. I know that I will always aspire to live these qualities.
